Breaking Borders is a new gaming event, launched by Næstved Bibliotek. The idea is to bring os Danes closer to our southern neighbors the Germans. Through gaming, they wanted to strengthen the relationship between these two groups of gamers. They needed a visual identity along with ads, clothing, print material, and much more
I investigated other LAN parties / Gaming events to see what we were up against visually. Many of the logos felt outdated and very niche. Therefore, I wanted to do something different, whilst still being true to the gamers. I also wanted to highlight the borders of Denmark and Germany in the logo, which also would represent the friendly competition at the event.
Dannebrog and the Bundesflagge would be used as the Icon. A green and blue gradient represents health, as the event would also feature active games outside of the gaming world. Lines in this gradient take inspiration from topographic maps.
The end result is a logo that feels at home with gamers. It plays on the relationship between Denmark and Germany and paves the way for a tighter relationship. The tagline, "Push the borders" is meant for those who want to take their game to the next level.
